August 6, 2012 - Joel Jens captures the win in the Rt.66 KOMET THROWDOWN
In only his 2nd senior event east of the Mississippi river, Joel Jens enters the Midwest’s prestigious Komet Throwdown at the last minute and
proceeds to dominate the event. Racing in conjunction with the Route 66 series the 4th Annual Komet Throwdown was held at Concept Haulers Speedway
located in Norway Illinois. Jens was a last minute entrant into the event and proceeded to set the pace in the 30 minute practice leading in times
the entire session from the start. Qualifying would find the TonyKart pilot at the top of the charts resulting in a cash award and tires. Jens would
pull off the track in the “Dash for Cash” to save his tires for the final event that would pay the big purse of 1000.00 to win, a set of
tires and the coveted Sword trophy. Joel led the race from the start and surrendered the lead alittle past half way and paced himself to the final
laps saving the kart, engine and tires. The leader would make a large mistake coming into the final turns and Jens made his move to claim the win and
the awards. This win would be the first time any other chassis brand has won the title and Jens was happy to represent the TONYKART brand and Switch
Racing Engines powerplant in the victory.
