August 20, 2010 - WKA Manufacturer’s Cup Series - New Castle

Joel Jens and the Team Franklin Motorsports crew came to play for keeps at the show Hauler nationals in New Castle Indiana. The weekend started off a little on the slow side but when it came time to race the number thirty five machine was shining. Saturday started off good with a solid top ten qualifying in both classes Yamaha can and KPP. As the day unfolded both classes looked like a possibility for strong finishes. Yamaha can lite was the first race up on Saturday and with some slight mid race unfortunate Joel brought the number thirty five home in eighteenth position. KPP on the other had looked like a chance for the win with a close three way battle between Neri, Beasley and Jens. Coming down the last long straight at New Castle Motorsprts Park Beasley protected the bottom as Jens went to the high side coming to the stripe Neri would slip to the inside of Jens and take the second spot putting Jens in the third position. Sundays races started off with two great qualifying and prefinal runs to put Jens in a great position to win both classes. KPP lite was the first on track and another solid run pushing Beasley out to a few second lead to come down to a last corner pass attempt by Jens which fell short. Yamaha heavy was the last class of the weekend to compete. Jens started off pole with Beasley on point. The green went in the air and slight contact in corner two sent Jens slight off track causing several karts to pass him. Making his way up from sixth place Jens got to it and chased down the leader Beasley and with one lap to go went to the point. The veteran Sam Beasley was not done with Jens though as he quickly passed him back and as they came to the stripe Jens came up a few inches short.

"This was by far one of the best Man cup weekends we have had so far this year. I hope we can continue with these results in Millville and for the next season."

Next race the Joel Jens, Team Franklin Motorsports crew will be competing in will be the Midwest Sprint Series at Norway Illinois for the last round of competition and the chance at three regional championships.
